Pray for Families (Shepherd us with Love)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

We have been praying for marriage and family for about 5 years now!  May the Lord bless all of you and your families for your commitment to prayer!

Even in Rome, the focus is on the family as Pope Francis recently called for an “Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops” which began October 5 and continues until October 19.  Their gathering will be focused on: The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.  The event will explore how our churches can show compassion in the context of modern views and practices on sexuality.  In other words, how can they better shepherd the family.

Pope Francis wrote a prayer he asked all to pray, seeking the intercession of the Holy Family for the success of the Synod.  I ask all of you to pray this prayer regardless of your faith background, because we are part of the same spiritual family.

Prayer to the Holy Family for the Synod

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
In you we contemplate the splendor of true love, to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth,
Grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth,
May families never again experience violence, rejection and division:
May all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth,
May the approaching Synod of Bishops make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer.  Amen.

O Shepherd of Israel, lend an ear, you who guide Joseph like a flock! Seated upon the cherubim, shine forth!  Psalm 80:2

Lord bless and sanctify those you have called to shepherd us!
Lord, bless and sanctify the Prayer Warriors!
Lord, bless and sanctify our families!  Hear our never-ending prayers!

Peace, Joy and Love,
Janet

Ask anyone born into a family to pray!  Pass it on!
