Pray for Marriages (Letting go of old baggage)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

Difficult marriages can feel so heavy!  The effort to keep them alive can be so fatiguing!

One reason the coupling of marriage can be so difficult is that we each bring all of our baggage from childhood and single life into the marriage.  Frankly speaking, it can’t all fit!   It creates an obstacle course to intimacy.  There is the bag of distrust, the duffel of hurts, the box of secrets, and the backpack of shame.  Then there’s is the roller bag of expectations, and the spinner bag of blindsides. With so much to weigh us down we are left in the darkness, when all we crave is a relationship that grows in the Light.

You are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer! Romans 12:12

Now is the time to unpack and let go of the old baggage!   Let it burn in the fire of His all consuming love. God will provide to you all that you need.  Let us all join together in prayer and pray for the courage to purge, the grace to re-open fortressed hearts, and the divine balm to heal long-festering wounds.  May God’s love and mercy empower couples to start anew, imitating Christ in their display of love and mercy.

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Burn old baggage in the fire of His Love!  Pass it on!
