Pray for Marriages (Roadmap to prayer)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

As I continue to see marriages crumble all around me, I am moved to spend some time in reflection upon God’s master plan for marriage.

But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.  For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother [and be joined to his wife] and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh.   Mark 10:6-8

Are we being given the roadmap to marriage?  Perhaps this can be our guide on how to pray.

Lord, give us the courage to support and defend what you have ordained, even if our personal desires or the desires of those in our midst differ.

Lord, although each spouse is a unique individual who is to respect and love their parents, help them to move from the child influenced/directed by their parents, to a mature adulthood where they unite as one with their spouse, taking full advantage of the graces bestowed through the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.   Keep them yoked in communication and united in a partnership that seeks the good of one another as well as the good of their children.

Finally Lord, teach married couples to love as you love: unconditionally, with patience, tenderness, and selflessness.

Your prayers and those of others do make a difference. May you be blessed as you continue your prayers of petition, praise, and thanksgiving.

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Help support marriages.  Share the love; share the hope.  Pass it on.
