Pray for Marriages (Un-yoked)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

Marriage is like a tandem bike.  It works really well when both partners are pedaling, but it’s really difficult when one chooses to coast.  Realistically, one must admit that marriage will never stay at 50-50.  It fluctuates according to one’s ability as influenced by children, health, work, extended family, etc., at any point in time.  The pendulum swings from 40-60, 70-30, 20-80, 10-90, 99-1, and so on. But what happens when one spouse gives all toward a marriage and the other emotionally checks out leaving the other at 100-0?

There is no easy answer here but prayer.  What is the Lord asking of you?

To the rest I say (not the Lord): if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she is willing to go on living with him, he should not divorce her; and if any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he is willing to go on living with her, she should not divorce her husband. For the unbelieving husband is made holy through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy through the brother. Otherwise your children would be unclean, whereas in fact they are holy. If the unbeliever separates, however, let him separate. The brother or sister is not bound in such cases; God has called you to peace. For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband; or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife? 1 Corinthians 7:12-16

Lord, we pray for those marriages in most distress.  Those that feel un-yoked, disenfranchised, isolated, and hopeless.  Flood these marriages with special graces and extraordinary helps as they gasp to survive in a culture that encourages them to cut the ties.  Lord, hear the cries of your faithful and show your mighty power.  Jesus we trust in you.

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Every marriage needs encouragement daily. Pass it on!
