Pray for Families (Good Friday)

Dearest Prayer Warriors,

Spend the day in contemplative prayer.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.  John 3:16-17

I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth.  As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world.  And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth. “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.  And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.  John 17:15-23

“Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”  Luke 23:34

Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit”; and when he had said this he breathed his last.  Luke 23:46

We adore you O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your holy cross, You have redeemed the world!

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Only found in Him!

Pray for Marriages (Vows & Promises)

 Greetings Prayer Warriors,

As we begin Holy Week, I have been contemplating the cultural shifts that have taken place over the years.  A handshake used to be all that was needed as a promise to do something.  No contracts, just a person's word, upon which their reputation stood.

Today, there are all kinds of contracts, vows, covenants, and promises-all of which can be broken with little or no harm to one’s reputation.

We are blessed that Jesus Christ made an eternal covenant with us.  By shedding His blood through death, we have new life and may live in Him and with Him forever.

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.”  Luke 22:20

How are you doing on your vows and promises?  To your spouse?  To others?  To God?  Are you treating them as an eternal covenant or a breakable contract?

Pray for a strengthening of the marriage covenant, in your life, in the life of others, and in the world.

Peace, Joy and Love,
Janet

Pray for Families (Simply pray)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

Keep the day simple.  Simply pray for families.   All weekend long.

Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one. Matthew 5:37

Peace, Joy and Love,
Janet

Pray for Marriages (A Role Model)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

We all need solid role models.  But whom can we emulate as the perfect spouse?   My mind wanders to Mary and Joseph, and but since tomorrow is the feast of St. Joseph, I decided to meditate on writings about him.  The words used to describe him say it all.  I am struck by the fact that these words could be used to describe Mary too.
  • Humble
  • Steadfast
  • Pure
  • Charitable
  • Protective
  • Supportive
  • Loving
  • Self-sacrificing
  • Unselfish
  • Instrument for the benefit of others
  • Devoted
  • Comforter
  • Faithful
  • Tender
  • Loyal
  • Obedient to the will of God

The result of humility and fear of the LORD is riches, honor and life.  Proverbs 22:4

Perhaps we can choose a few of these virtues and attributes to integrate into our own life/marriage.  Pray to the Lord for an increase in virtue for your spouse, yourself, and other marriages.  Then make a personal commitment to grow in virtue, one day at a time.

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Pray for Families (Rise up!)

Dearest Prayer Warriors,

We are all called to action.  Are you ready?  Is your family? Are you actively living out your faith? Seeking to learn?  Reading spiritual books?  Praying often?  Are you on fire, lukewarm, or icy in your faith?

Recently I was reading about St. Frances of Rome, a mystic who received descriptive visions of hell.  She learned in her visions, that of all the fallen angels who were sent to hell, one-third had freely followed Lucifer, while the other two-thirds never took sides during the celestial battle and because of their silence, they were banished from heaven!

“I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot.  So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.  Rev 3:15-16

Reenergize your faith, your prayer life, and your witness of the Truth.  Let His light shine from within, so that when others see you, they know you are a child of God.

For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

Arise! Shine, for your light has come, the glory of the LORD has dawned upon you.  Though darkness covers the earth, and thick clouds, the peoples, upon you the LORD will dawn, and over you his glory will be seen.  Isaiah 60: 1-2

Be a light in the darkness for a child of God.  Pray for all of God’s family.

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Warm up your spiritual life.  Pass it on.
