As we begin Holy Week, I have been
contemplating the cultural shifts that have taken place over the years. A handshake used to be all that was needed as
a promise to do something. No contracts,
just a person's word, upon which their reputation stood.
Today, there are all kinds of contracts,
vows, covenants, and promises-all of which can be broken with little or no harm
to one’s reputation.
We are blessed that Jesus Christ made an eternal covenant with us. By shedding His blood through death, we have
new life and may live in Him and with Him forever.
“This cup is the new
covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.” Luke 22:20
How are you doing on your vows and
promises? To your spouse? To others?
To God? Are you treating them as
an eternal covenant or a breakable contract?
Pray for a strengthening of the marriage
covenant, in your life, in the life of others, and in the world.
Peace, Joy and Love,
Janet
