Greetings Prayer Warriors,
“Fallen human beings
try to refashion reality”.
This is what jumped off the page at me this morning as I was
doing devotional reading. Perhaps it hit
me so hard because it is a harsh truth. I immediately tried to apply it to
others, but then I stopped myself and knew I must apply it to myself because all of us are fallen.
Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do
not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
Matthew 7:3
The more we sin the more blinded we are to sin and it’s
effects on our lives and those around us. We refashion reality to explain away our sin, mainly to ourselves. Multiply “altered realities” within a family,
city, state, country, world and it’s not hard to understand why our world seems
like a ship sailing off course.
Yet the Lord offers us a font of grace and mercy. We must
reacquaint ourselves with what sin is and turn to Him in repentance with a
desire for reconciliation, and ask for His mercy.
“Child, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:5
Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will
see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:5
Once we are reconciled, the Lord does ask us to help others.
Be reconciled, and then pray for your family, that in gentleness and loving
kindness, you may assist them in removing the splinters from their eyes.
“The LORD, the LORD,
a God gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love and
fidelity.” Exodus 34:6
May our eyes continually be reopened to the true reality of His
love, mercy, and peace.
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
