Pray for Families (Love Released)

 Greetings Prayer Warriors,

We are at about the mid-point of Lent. How’s it going for you? Making sacrifices can be a good thing, as they strengthen and discipline us, while being pleasing to God. Yet for some, giving up something (ie food, favorite beverages, video games, television, etc.) can result in a daily epic fail.

But perhaps, that is not what the Lord has been calling you to do.

‘To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”  Mark 12:32-33

Maybe, He has been calling you to give up YOU. Meaning, perhaps many are called to less self-absorption and narcissism and more attentiveness to the needs of others. When our focus is on ourselves, it’s as if a wall blocks love from entering or exiting. But when we break down that wall, God’s love enters and radiates outwards.

Are you ready? He is awaiting your response:

Behold, I come to do your will, O God.  Hebrews 10:7

For the remainder of Lent, begin each day discerning what the Lord is calling you to do for that day.  Perhaps He will put some names on your heart, showing you where you can reflect His love and fill a void.  (Hint: It may be in your own home!)

Lord, you never fail to offer us your love; forgive us for squandering it. There is not a day that goes by that we aren’t reminded of the frailness of our humanity. Help us to love others as much as we love ourselves and give us the grace to want to give more than to receive. In you, Lord, this is possible!

Peace, Joy, and Love,

Janet

Prayer is always the answer. Pass it on!
