Greetings Prayer Warriors,
The week of February 7-14 is National Marriage Week USA*. The goal of this campaign is to strengthen
marriages and reduce the divorce rate.
In 1970, close to 80% of adults in America were
married. Over the next 40 years the
number of married adults plummeted to just 52%.
The resulting impact on family, the economy, physical and mental health,
emotional well-being, crime, violence, and child poverty is extensive.
(For more in-depth information, see the link below.*)
As family life devolves, both with couples never marrying
and couples not staying married, we are also faced with a spiritual consequence. There is a resulting drop/loss in overall church
attendance. If families/children stop
hearing the gospel messages and the enduring hope they give, or perhaps never learn
about God at all, our society will continue to weaken. But hope remains.
And I will lead the blind in a way that they know not, in
paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness
before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the
things I will do, and I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16
My purpose of sharing all of this with you is to show you how
important your prayers are, and to encourage you to persevere in your
prayers for marriages; for your prayers rise up and His grace rains down. Let us pray for a downpour, a deluge, a
hurricane of grace, for all change begins with His grace.
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
