Greetings Prayer Angels,
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. It reminds us of Mary’s steadfast and compassionate
love for our Lord, that in being ever present to Him especially at the foot of
the cross, she too suffered greatly. It
makes one ponder, what is worse, suffering or watching a loved one suffer,
especially when you know there is nothing you can do to relieve their suffering?
Is it any less painful if one’s suffering is not physical, but rather emotional,
mental, or spiritual?
In the sacrament of marriage, the Lord makes couples one flesh. There is no escaping the pain of the other,
even if one’s instinct prompts them toward flight not fight! But Love calls
each to stay and join in the carrying of the cross. Not easy!
So today, let’s pray for couples whose suffering feels like a very weighty,
suffocating cross.
Lord, may we always be mindful that we are never alone, as you are ever present. There is no cross we are given that you don’t help us carry. When we are too fatigued to take even a step due to the weight of our cross, let us rejoice that it is then that you then carry us. We are weak; you are strong. Strengthen us in our trials and teach us to trust you more. May our tears cleanse our hearts. As love unites us with our crosses, may we be drawn closer to you, Love and Mercy Divine! Renew us in your love, now and forever. Amen.
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
The cross is always lighter when shared, and lightest when
united with Christ. Pass it on!
