Greetings Prayer Warriors,
Have you ever considered that marriage may be a precursor to
our relationship with Christ; a training ground of sorts? Like our walk with
Christ, the marital relationship is often two steps forward, one step back. We
wrestle with our self-love, lack of trust, pride, resistance to change, and
need to control.
Similar to our relationship with Christ, for a marriage to
flourish, grace is necessary and He gives it to us in abundance! We do nothing to earn it, but we do need to
cooperate with it if we are to benefit from it!
It is difficult for us to consider abandoning ourselves completely to
His will and letting go of the reins, however when spouses let Him reign in
their hearts, grace becomes more abundant and marital (joy, peace, intimacy,
whatever is lacking) becomes a possibility where it may previously have been thought
inconceivable.
Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever. 1 John 2: 15-17
So let us pray for grace upon grace upon grace to rain down
upon married couples. May they let go of the reins, let it rain, and let Him
Reign!
