Greetings Prayer Warriors,
During this wonderful springtime of clearing out the old and
bringing in the new, let us also allow for a personal “spring cleaning” of
sorts.
Put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God’s way in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Ephesians 4:22-24
What a perfect visual if we apply this to marriage
preparation; If each spouse lets go of their past and the power it lords over
them and instead allows the Lord to clothe them “in God’s way in righteousness
and holiness of truth,” then how beautiful all marriages would be!
The Lord’s call to conversion and renewal of self is ongoing,
with no expiration date!! So now is the
time to do a self-inventory. What doors
of your heart have been locked shut, keeping you from loving at full capacity? In the storage unit of your mind, are you
still paying for useless, old hurts and painful memories? What things infiltrate your mind and destroy
your peace? What unhealthy desires impact your life and your marriage? Keep going and don’t stop until you have done
a full inventory.
Are you ready now to let go and allow the Lord to incinerate
these things in his Sacred Heart?
Lord, we boldly pray
for the ability to let go of those things in our lives that negatively impact
us, but are so intertwined with our identity that we fail to see their
poison. We give you our false identity
in exchange for the one you desire for us.
Renew us in the spirit of our minds!
Heal and erase our hurtful memories, while healing the hurts that we
have created in others, especially our spouses.
Clothe us with a new self, one that reflects you, whom are pure, holy,
and righteous. Ground us in your truth! Immerse us in your love! As Father, comfort us in our trials, as Son
and Savior conform us to your will, as Spirit and Paraclete, help and guide us always.
O Blessed Trinity, hear and answer our
humble prayer for marriages! Amen.
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
Encourage a couple to put away their old selves and be
renewed in Christ. Pass it on!
