Greetings Prayer Warriors,
[Lord,] reach out your hand from on high; deliver me from
the many waters; rescue me from the hands of foreign foes. Their mouths speak
untruth. Psalm 144:7-8
Recently while in a cab, the driver started bemoaning all
the violence happening in the world, especially the most recent terrorist
shooting in California. ‘I did not hate
until 9/11,’ he shared with me. “I hated
those terrorists and now I hate those who killed the people in San Bernardino.” I understood his anger, but I don’t agree
that hating is the answer. Hate begets
hate. Will we eradicate terrorism if we encourage hate and adopt the heart of an
evildoer? Conversely love begets love. Loving your enemy is a radical
concept. Jesus, taught that we should
lead with love not weapons, a most difficult concept to understand both then
and now.
[His] “kingdom is not
founded on power and domination, on triumph and oppression as is often the case
of earthly kingdoms." It is a place of "piety,
tenderness, goodness, grace and justice." The Lord is "gracious and merciful, slow to anger." –Emeritus Pope
Benedict
Pray for your family, pray for your enemies, love unconditionally, and pray for the grace to love those who persecute. Pray that we may
all learn to love as the Heavenly Father loves us. Make a commitment to
perpetuate love, especially when you don’t feel loving. Encourage others to lead with love, so that
others may come to know Christ through us.
Only then will we be an instrument of change in the world, one heart at
a time.
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
