Greeting Prayer Warriors,
Travel is a part of my job, so each week I interface with a
number of people including coworkers, customers, friends, family, and
strangers. Often the conversation drifts
to marriage and relationships. As I listen, I learn that in most suffering
relationships, someone just wants to be heard, understood and respected. They long for the active presence and
participation of their spouse (i.e. without electronic or work distractions). They are lonely
within their marriage. It’s as if one or
both spouses think the courtship ends at “I do.” Many of these people admit that they are on a
slippery slope. They are vulnerable to
anyone who gives them the attention they long for. Most of these people are not looking for sex,
as sex without intimacy is easy to come by, even within a marriage. Rather, they long for someone/something to
fill the emptiness in their heart.
Though the mountains fall away and the hills be shaken, my love shall never fall away from you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10
Heavenly Father, you
designed marriage to be an intimate, loving, and supportive relationship, one
of total self-giving, each spouse to the other.
However, one’s pride, ego, and self-centeredness often divert your
perfect plan for marriage. Dear Lord, we
implore your grace upon marriages, especially those most vulnerable to
infidelities, either emotional or physical. May each person find the love
and intimacy they seek, in You, for your love is tender, pure and everlasting.
Send your angels and to keep the Evil One at
bay, for he gloats over the ruin of souls.
Hear our collective prayers for marriage, for they are a sacrificial
offering for your glory! Jesus we trust in You!
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
