Greetings Prayer Warriors,
Our relationship with Christ shouldn’t be one where we do
all the asking, expecting He’ll do all the giving. What kind of relationship is that? If we desire a good relationship, we need to
invest ongoing time with that person by talking, listening, giving, and
receiving. If we desire a strong relationship
with God, we must step up. Sometimes He
doesn’t answer us, perhaps testing our sincerity and resolve. Other times He
answers us but we are too busy talking to hear. Sometimes what we ask for isn’t
what He knows we need.
Marital relationships are similar and need the same
investment of quality time, conversation, quiet time, reciprocity, and the
willingness to be yoked. A relationship
never stays at 50-50. It can swing from
90-10 to 1-99 with one carrying more than their share. But it can’t be a
relationship at all if each partner isn’t invested. What is needed is a mutual willingness
to man the boat and row while waiting for the tide to turn. And that is as difficult as standing in a
very, very long line where the end is nowhere in sight.
Deep calls to deep in the roar of your torrents, and all
your waves and breakers sweep over me. By day may the LORD send his mercy, and
by night may his righteousness be with me! I will pray to the God of my life. Psalm 42:8-9
Fortunately, the Lord controls the tides of the ocean and
the tides in our lives. If we could do it alone, we wouldn’t need God or
prayer. But of course, we are incapable
of safely weathering life’s changing tides without the Lord keeping us in
balance. Let us pray with an open heart
as we lift our voices to intercede for each and every marriage. Lord God, we ask that you abate the tidal
waves seeking to crush marriages, calm the storms that wreak frequent havoc in each
relationship, and illuminate the blinding darkness with the Light of your
Son. Bring us safely to shore, and help
us to know your will for us. Jesus, we
trust in You!
No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful
and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will
also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet
There is always time to pray. It may be someone’s only life line. Pass it on!
