Pray for Marriages (The Armor of God)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

A spiritual war is rising all around us and continues to attack marriages.

Remind yourself that the task ahead of us is never as great as the Power behind us.

Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11

Gird yourselves spiritually with:

The helmet of salvation
The breastplate of righteousness
The shield of faith
The belt of truth
The sword of the Spirit/Word of God
Feet shod in readiness with the gospel of Peace
Constant prayer

For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.  Ephesians 6:12

Charge ahead confidently in prayer you steadfast warriors!

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Build His army.  Pass it on.

Pray for Families (Especially the children)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

Do you ever ponder what the future will be like for the children of this century?  Since actions speak louder than word, what have they been taught?
  • That marriage vows only need to be honored until things get difficult.
  • That having kids is dependent on the parent’s desires.
  • That kids are often just the parent’s trophies.
  • That parents are insignificant in the raising of children; that’s what daycares, nannies, & babysitters are for!
  • That purity is old-fashioned.
  • That if it feels good, do it!  Indulge your desires!
  • That it’s all about image and how you are measured in the eyes of others.
  • That church is where you go on Easter and Christmas, because doesn’t everyone?
  • The Lord?  He’s who you call upon when you have no other options left!

I am sure you could add more to this list, but you get the drift.   Be a positive witness by your actions!  Then pray, Pray, PRAY!!

The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.  James 5:16

Lord, help us to get down on our knees and pray for children, parents, and grandparents.   May the scales fall from our eyes!  May your will be our will!  Lift us out of our misery!   Drown us in your mercy!  Jesus, we trust in you!!

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Pray for Marriages (Courage and Passion)

Dearest Prayer Warriors,

One need not look very far to see that marriages are crumbling at a rapid rate.   In past generations, divorce was a rarity, because couples supported the institution of marriage and were encouraged to look beyond themselves to the welfare of their family.   Today it appears to be about each person’s own happiness.   In other words, it’s all about “me”.  It is not enough for us to silently shake our heads in sympathy.  We must have the courage to speak up when friends are exhibiting harmful behavior, the passion to speak out about the importance of marriage, and the love to support other couples when their marriage is on the precipice.

Have the courage to pray for marriages on the brink:

Crying
Out (in prayer)
Until (there is)
Recourse
Against
Grievous
Error

Be passionate about marriage:

Pray on others behalf
Ask that grace be poured out
Speak up about the gift of marriage
Support those whose marriage is injured
Include other couples and be a witness to selfless love and commitment
Open your hearts in love
Nurture the wounded

First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone. 1 Timothy 2:1

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Challenge someone to increase their passion and courage to pray for marriages.  Pass it on.

Pray for Families (Carry us Lord)

Greetings Prayer Angels,

Do you ever feel that life is one challenge after another?  Or perhaps a family member is continually being tried?  Let us lift up our families and all families in prayer.

Dear Lord, hear our prayer for families. When we, or a loved one have been beaten down in life, carry us in our weariness.   When we feel broken or abandoned, heal and comfort us.  Save us from self-destruction; Wash us in your precious blood and remove our envy, pride, bitterness, resentment, and anger.   Cleanse us from our gluttonous consumerism, sloth in our spiritual life, and lustful desires.  Deliver and protect us from the evil one who seeks our spiritual ruin.  Save us from despair; give us hope. Drown us in your mercy; renew us with your grace.  Jesus, I trust in You!

You are my only hope.  Psalm 39:8

Take a spiritual spa day.  Lay your burdens down and renew yourselves in the Lord.

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."  Matthew 11:28-30

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Pray for Marriages (Help us see)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

As I was pondering late last night what to write about, it suddenly struck me what perilous times we are in. Will we still be praying for marriage as we know it, in a month, a year, 5 years?

If sex is now about recreation not procreation; if marriage is considered only a contract between two people not a covenantal sacrament; if marriage is about the happiness of the adults at the expense of the children, and children are now mere possessions that adults aspire to acquire, what does that leave us?   Where does that leave society?  Will our selfishness result in our extinction?

It’s no wonder that I was struck by the scripture I read this morning:

Pray without ceasing.  1 Thessalonians 5:17

Lord we pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, a loving heart, wisdom to know the truth and the courage to speak the truth in love.

Son of man, you live in the midst of a rebellious house; they have eyes to see, but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear. They are such a rebellious house!  Ezekiel 12:2

We pray dear Lord for you to preserve marriage as you created it and you intended it.  Help us to see how we ourselves have fallen short of your ideal.  May our prayers help the all of us to see clearly, that we, like Saul, may regain our sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Immediately things like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight.  Acts 9:18

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Help someone to regain their sight.  Pass it on.
