Pray for Marriages (The Hidden Thief)

Greeting Prayer Warriors,

It is everywhere and sometimes difficult to avoid. It’s easy to access, all from the privacy of one’s personal phone, tablet or computer. The result of its use leads to negative body image, increased sexual violence, increased sexual dysfunction, and has a detrimental impact on the brain, just for starters. You would think people would run from something so harmful, but it is highly addictive.*  What am I referring to? Pornography.

It destroys lives. It’ destroys marriages. Yet it’s rarely a topic of conversation. It increases a person’s dissatisfaction with their spouse and increases the likelihood that the user will have an extra-marital affair. It becomes the hidden thief that no one talks about.

For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not. For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. Now if [I] do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand.  Romans 18:21

The effects of pornography reach far beyond marriages, but the focus of our warrior prayer will be for marriage preservation.

Lord, good people can fall into bad habits, which can lead to bad addictions.  It is through such habits and addictions that one learns how much they need You for you can turn the most negative events into grace-filled turning points. Come Lord Jesus with your compassion and mercy. Come Holy Spirit with your healing grace. Come Divine Physician, and remove this cancerous desire, delete the mind-searing visual images, and reorder all that has become disordered. Save and protect those marriages suffering from pornography’s destructive path. Jesus, hear our collective prayers, for we trust in your love and mercy. Amen.

Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 7: 24-25

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Who knows who really needs to hear this?  Pass it on to everyone!
