Pray for Families (2 Truths and a Lie)

Greetings Prayer Warriors,

There is a party game that is popular called “2 Truths and a Lie”. The object is to see if the guests can determine which two facts are the truth and which one is the lie.  In fact, one only has to change the truth just a little bit to make it a lie. It’s not that hard to fool people. Satan knows this very well, and thus takes the truth, and changes it ever so slightly, just a little at a time until eventually the lie is not perceptible.

Let’s take a look at popular thought over time. Can you tell when it moves from truth to lie?
  • Marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman
  • Children are a gift from God and a sign of blessing
  • Large families are truly a blessing
  • Marriages should be “open” to life
  • Children are a gift only if you are ready to have them
  • Couples should take control of when and if they decide receive those gifts/blessings
  • Unwanted children aren’t a blessing, so it’s best if one uses “protection”
  • If children aren’t wanted, it’s better they not be born, but terminated
  • Abortion should be allowed up until birth, because it’s the woman’s body, the woman’s choice
  • What’s wrong with that couple with all those kids?  Don’t they know how to prevent that?!
There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will introduce destructive heresies and even deny the Master who ransomed them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their licentious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled. In their greed they will exploit you with fabrications, but from of old their condemnation has not been idle and their destruction does not sleep. 2 Peter 2:1-3

Many are being led astray in various ways. So we pray for both our loved ones and ourselves:

Lord, give us eyes to see and a discerning heart. Have mercy on us when we are stubborn and obstinate and don’t want to see or believe the truth. Crush our pride and replace it with humility.  Do not allow us to be led astray by the Evil One!

“If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

I will pray for you!
Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth!  John 17:17

Peace, Joy, and Love,
Janet

Speak the truth in love.  Pass it on!
