Greetings Prayer
Warriors,
Being a parent is
a huge blessing, although there can be months or even years where it doesn’t
feel that way. Sometimes we must face
the fact that our kids inherited some of our worst traits! At least we can
empathize with them! The real heroes though, are those who have adopted some or
all of their children. The difficulties they experience as they parent can be
much more challenging as they don’t always know of their child’s prenatal and infant
environments.
Do not be afraid, for I am
with you. Isaiah 43:5
Adopted children often
come from abusive environments, orphanages in foreign countries, and drug addicted
mothers. Yet the Lord in his love does not abandon them, but calls new parents. Those who answer His call are given a greater
capacity to love, and their hearts pour out in a whole new dimension. There is a
greater purity to their love in that they can’t claim their child’s beauty, intelligence,
personality in the prideful way we sometimes do, but rather celebrate each accomplishment
of these special children of God who they were privileged to choose.
Let’s pray for these
parents and their children.
Lord Jesus, send your Spirit upon these
parents and enhance their gifts of wisdom, patience, compassion, and love, so that
they may continue to love even during the most challenging time. For the children, Lord, heal their memories,
their bodies, their addictions, their woundedness, and their feelings of rejection
and abandonment from their biological parents. Tighten the bonds of their love
to their adoptive parents who, like your foster father, St. Joseph, cared tenderly
for them and protected them from harm.
May your blessings be abundant to these families!
For I will restore your
health; I will heal your injuries—oracle of the LORD. “The outcast” they have
called you, “whom no one looks for.”
Jeremiah 30:17
I have called you by name:
you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
Peace, Joy, and
Love
