Deep in our souls is a gnawing hunger. Some spend a lifetime searching for that which will satiate it. Our hearts are thirsty and parched, seeking that which will quench its desire for love. We look to spouses, hoping that their love will be like a royal banquet of unending display of delights. We set expectations of them, thinking they can fill every void in our souls. We try to earn more of their love, attempting to be more loveable. Often, we are disappointed. Yet, there is only One who can fill that void, only One that loves you just as you are. Nothing you can do will make Him love you more. Nothing you can do will make Him love you less. Open your heart to the Lord, that He may fill it with His love. Humble yourself, and pray that your soul may be healed by His mercy.
Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life. John 6:27
Let the Lord be your nourishment which satiates all desires. Work to serve the Lord by imitating His love and mercy in your marriage and in your family. Then the love of others, especially that of your spouse, will be nothing more than love in abundance.
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never
hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” John 6:35
Lord, hear the prayers in our hearts which ache for something more. May we be always mindful that you desire us more than we can ever imagine. Bless our marriages in powerful and unexpected ways, for we believe, adore, hope and love You!
